Arizona Prodigy Takes European Stage
The Prague Lions have secured a new signal-caller set to navigate their path in the upcoming ELF season. Karé Lyles, at 25, brings both youthful promise and a compelling track record to the Czech squad, accepting the reins as their future quarterback.
High School Champion Emerges
Lyles’ football roots trace back to Scottsdale, Arizona, where his prowess at Saguaro High School included back-to-back state championships. Lyles ended his high school career with staggering numbers: a 70.5 percent completion rate, a total of 6,981 yards, and a 87-11 touchdown-interception ratio.
Collegiate Ups and Downs
Opting to honor family legacy, Lyles joined Wisconsin, the alma mater of his father. However, injuries and transfer decisions led him to Scottsdale Community College and later to two Division I teams, Southern Illinois and Jackson State University. Despite challenges, his tenure at these institutions showcased his resilience and adaptability.
European Football Beckons
Pivoting into an analyst role with the NFL Network in 2022, the call of the gridiron remained irresistible for Lyles. His European football venture started with the New Yorker Lions of the GFL where he impressively passed for 1,745 yards and 23 touchdowns, leading his team to the semi-finals.
New Beginnings in Prague
Lyles has high hopes for his European football journey:
“I’d like to thank Coach Dan Disch, David Zamorano, and the rest of the organization for giving me the opportunity to join the Prague Lions, the first American football team in the Czech Republic. I’m excited to head to Prague, meet my teammates, coaches and become a part of the Lion family!”
The question remains, can Lyles reflect his high school and college promise on the European stage? The Prague Lions eagerly await the coming season with their new leader at quarterback.
