As UFL training camp commences the General Manager Dave Boller and Head Coach Anthony Becht continued to add to the roster as teams began their onboarding process. On February 25th, the UFL Public Relations page announced the signing of Darion Chafin a 2023 Draftee from the XFL’s rookie draft last summer.

Chafin was a part of a dynamic duo at Incarnate Word with Roughnecks Quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr.. Chafin put together 3 dynamic seasons for the Cardinals being named to theΒ 2022 All-American Third Team, 2022 Southland All-Conference First Team and the 2022 Phil Steele All-America Team. Chafin totaled 2388 yards and 33 TDs over 33 games in college and set a UIW record with 262 receiving yards in one game. He will now have the privilege of competing in an experienced Wide Receivers room led by new coach Phil McGeoghan.

Chafin joins a Wide Receiver room full of experience with not only Quarterback A.J, McCarron but also in the spring football as a whole. The Battlehawks currently have Darrius Shepherd, Hakeem Butler, Jahcour Pearson, Blake Jackson, Marcell Ateman, Jeff Thomas (USFL 2022/23and Steven Mitchell, along with newcomers James Bostic, Ja’Marcus Bradley, and Jerome Kapp. Chafin seems to replace Jack Snyder who did not report to camp, per source and will be discontinuing his playing career at this time.
