After St. Louis confirmed the signings of Ten players on January 22nd the Battlehawks continued to build for their 2024 season by adding Eleven additional players to their team over the past week. While Ten of the players signed were dispersal draft picks, along with another Kicker Andrew Mevis an Iowa State alum to compete with Andre Szmyt.

Familiar Faces:

St. Louis returns several Starters including TE Jake Sutherland, OG Vadal Alexander, and All-XFL Center Mike Panasiuk. The Battlehawks also confirmed the return of reserve Offensive Lineman Christian Olmstead, Defensive Back Tim Harris, along with speedy WR Steven Mitchell.

Dispersal Draft Signees:

The Battlehawks also saw the confirmation of newly drafted players signing their contracts to confirm their status with the team in 2024. Offensive Lineman Abdul Beecham (Orlando Guardians), Defensive Back Qwynnterrio Cole (Seattle Sea Dragons), Linebacker John Daka (Houston Roughnecks), and WR Blake Jackson (Seattle Sea Dragons) officially confirm their intent to join the Battlehawks as well.

New Face in a New Place:

While St. Louis did confirm the return of several of their drafted players the Battlehawks also signed their 2nd consecutive Kicker. Andrew Mevis, the Brother of Harrison Mevis (Former Mizzou Kicker), spent his collegiate career at Fordham University (FCS) and Iowa State earning All-American Honors at ISU. Mevis became a UDFA in 2022 with the Jacksonville Jaguars before being released in July of 2022. He will compete with former Syracuse Kicker Andre Szmyt for the starting job in 2024.

Closing Thoughts:

Currently the Battlehawks roster sits at 69 players with the recent “retirement” of Max Borghi per Sports Illustrated. With only Two Quarterbacks on the roster, the Battlehawks are poised to add a 3rd signal caller with the possibility of additional Defensive Lineman as well. The UFL is slated to kick off on March 30th with a schedule still pending. Teams have till February 14th to confirm the roster which can hold a maximum of 75 players.
