While Coach Anthony Becht has made a plea to both agents and prospective players to consider the UFL over an NFL futures contract, one former Battlehawk has opted against his former Coach’s advice. Nate Meadors who finished out the season on the Steelers practice squad, has signed a contract with the team several weeks after Pittsburgh was eliminated from the playoffs.
Meadors joined the Battlehawks after spending Four years in the NFL on and off practice squads with Six teams. After being selected in the supplemental draft Meadors would reported to St. Louis upon the completion of his practice squad contract with the Titans in January 2023. Meadors would start 8 games for St. Louis in the XFL, totaling 37 tackles, and 2 Interceptions for the Battlehawks before earning a contract with the Browns for 2023 NFL training camp. Upon being released by the Browns after camp, Meadors rejoined the Battlehawks in the off-season only to return to the NFL with the Steelers on their practice squad to finish out the 2023 NFL regular season and playoffs.
Meadors was one of 16 players to earn an NFL opportunity after his season with the Battlehawks in 2023. Currently the St. Louis roster sits at 71 players as the UFL is set to have a hard date of February 14th for the confirmation of their 75 players going into training camp. With only Two Quarterbacks on the roster, the Battlehawks are poised to add a 3rd signal caller with the possibility of additional Defensive Lineman as well. The UFL is slated to kick off on March 30th with a schedule still pending.
