The Battlehawks continue to retool their roster with another familiar face from training camp. The team opted to return Drew Lewis who spent time with the team during training camp after a season ending injury to Johnny Buchanan earlier in the year. Lewis, becomes the 4th Battlehawk to return to the team during the middle of the season, as Chris Garrett, Nico Bolden, and Kevon Latulas have all earned roster spots after being cut at the conclusion of training camp.

Lewis has been in the alt-football circuit since 2020 after failed NFL stints with the Texans, Colts and Saints in 2019. Lewis served as a reserve Linebacker for the 2020 Houston Roughnecks, before joining the USFL in 2022 with the Houston Gamblers. In 2023 Lewis appeared in 8 games for the Houston Roughnecks and San Antonio Brahmas before being “released” due to the UFL’s “downsizing” for the 2024 season. For his spring football career, Lewis has total 54 tackles and a 1 sack so far in his career after coming out of Colorado in 2019.

After injuries to Callahan O’Reilly and Johnny Buchanan, Lewis now has opportunity to make an impact for the Battlehawks during the final Four games of the season. Lewis should easily be able to provide quality depth for St. Louis at one of their strongest position groups. St. Louis is set to take on the Birmingham Stallions in Week 7, which many have viewed as a preview for the UFL championship game in Mid-June.
