As the 2024 UFL playoffs begin the Battlehawks added a bit of reinforcement during for the Conference Championship game. The team announced that LB Drew Lewis and DB Keylon Kennedy would both be placed on injured reserve as the team prepares to take on the San Antonio Brahmas this Sunday.
Lewis was a replacement for Johnny Buchanan after the Delaware Linebacker was placed on injured reserve. Lewis a veteran of the 2020 XFL, USFL, and 2023 XFL, was released after training camp and then returned after an injury to Callahan O’Reilly. Lewis performed admirably in a reserve role among injuries to Battlehawks Linebackers totaling 3 Tackles for the season.
Kennedy as drafted by the Battlehawks during the dispersal draft after spending 2023 with the Vegas Vipers. Dealing with injuries for much of the 2024 season Kennedy recorded 8 tackles in the Battlehawks Defensive Backfield rotation.
The Battlehawks now bring in Elijah Lee who is a Kansas City, Missouri area native and a former 7th round draft pick from the 2017 class by the Minnesota Vikings. Lee has spent time with Six NFL teams in his career, before signing with the Battlehawks. Recently Lee was with the Chicago Bears in 2022 before his contract expired.
Currently the Battlehawks roster sits at 49 this Thursday. The team is set to take on the San Antonio Brahmas in their Conference Championship game taking place in St. Louis at the “Battledome”. The Battlehawks are currently 3-0 all time against San Antonio and hope to bring the city of St. Louis their first championship since the St. Louis Blues won the “Cup” in 2019.
