While the Battlehawks roster seems to be coming to completion, the team made a couple transactions to fine-tune the backend of the roster. The Battlehawks waived Two players on Defensive side of the ball while also bringing in a Linebacker.
The Battlehawks brought in Linebacker John Petrishen while waiving Drew Lewis who spent part of 2024 with the team. Petrishen spent Seven years in college before coming out for the NFL draft. The former Pitt LB was plagued with injuries, before receiving an opportunity in the CFL with the BC Lions on their practice roster, and spending 2024 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers during training camp. In a corresponding move the Battlehawks waived LB Drew Lewis, who replaced the injured Johnny Buchanan last season. Lewis would eventually find his way on the Battlehawks Active Roster appearing in 2 games and recording 3 tackles. Lewis is a veteran of the Houston Roughnecks, Houston Gamblers, San Antonio Brahmas, and Battlehawks who can still provide value to UFL teams that may need additional Linebacker depth.
The Battlehawks also waived Nico Bolden per James Larsen early Tuesday morning. Bolden was a Battlehawks draft pick during the XFL Rookie Draft in 2023 who was a core special teams player in 2024. Bolden appeared in 6 games for St. Louis, recording 11 tackles
As the UFL is set to kickoff in less than 60 days, the Battlehawks look to fine tune their roster that currently sits at 62 players. The Battlehawks are set to kickoff week 1 on the road vs the Houston Roughnecks in their hopes of bringing the city of St. Louis a championship. Last season St. Louis went 7-3, losing to the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference Championship.
