The Brahmas have started moving to acquire more talent to add to their 2024 roster. The day started with San Antonio signing running back John Lovett from the Vegas Vipers, and to follow up, the Brahmas have added two impact players to their defense. UFL Insider @JamesLarsen has announced that the Brahmas have also signed All-XFL defensive tackle Caeveon Patton from the Orlando Guardians and defensive back Vernon Scott, who was most recently on the Carolina Panthers practice squad.

The consistent from head coach Wade Phillips is that he wants to build the best defense in the UFL. Phillips added many defensive players from the 2023 Houston Roughnecks roster during the player allotment draft. Today, he continues adding potential difference-makers on defense with the signings of Patton and Scott.

Bulking Up On The Defensive Line

All-XFL defensive tackle Caeveon Patton is a 24-year-old, 6’2″, 300-pound native of Cuero, Texas. In 2023, Patton was a standout player for the Orlando Guardians, accounting for 40 tackles. Patton will help reinforce the Brahma’s already strong defensive line.

Before coming to the Orlando Guardian, Patton played college football at Texas State from 2017 until 2021. During college, he played 44 games and had 179 tackles and 4.5 quarterback sacks. In 2022, Patton spent time on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad, and in 2023, the Atlanta Falcons signed Patton after the XFL season.

Adding Another Playmaker In The Secondary

Vernon Scott is a 26-year-old, 6’2″, 202-pound defensive back from Mansfield, Texas. Scott brings NFL experience to the Brahmas roster after spending 2020 until 2022 with the Green Bay Packers and the Caroline Panthers practice squad in 2023. While playing for the Packers, Scott played in 18 games and had 14 tackles. Scott was a seventh-round draft pick for the Packers in the 2020 NFL draft.

In college, Scott was a standout free safety for Texas Christian University from 2016 until 2019. During his four seasons at TCU, he played in 44 games and registered 86 tackles, one quarterback sack, and two interceptions, including one for a touchdown. Scott will have a chance to continue to add his playmaker ability to a defensive backfield that could be one of the best in the UFL in 2024.
