While UFL Transactions have begun to seep in slowly over the past week or so, the First “unofficial” retirement of the 2024 UFL Offseason. A team that was riddled with injuries, and retirements last season the D.C. Defenders will be with 2023 All-XFL DE Trent Harris who announced his retirement via instagram.
Harris was a UDFA coming out of the University of Miami in 2018 latching on with the New England Patriots practice squad. He’d earn a Super Bowl Ring with New England before having stints with the Dolphins, Giants, Ravens, and Raiders respectively. Harris would join the Houston Roughnecks in 2023 putting together a 9.5 sack season and earning All-XFL honors as a DE for Wade Phillips and Brian Stewart’s Defense.
Harris’ 2024 season was a bit more of a drop-off compared to what fans were expecting. After being selected to the D.C. Defenders in the UFL’s Dispersal Draft, he’d put together a season 19 tackle, 0.5 sack performance for the 4-6 Defenders. Harris ends his Professional Career with 19 NFL appearances 34 tackles, along with 2.0 sacks, in addition to 49 tackles, and 10 sacks in his spring football career.
