As spring football continues, a consistent figure from the entity has announced his playing days are behind him. Tre Watson a fan favorite from the 2023 Battlehawks has announced his retirement per James Larsen of PFN. The former Maryland/Illinois alum, had played Four Seasons between the XFL and CFL, including a stint with the Miami Dolphins.
Watson proved to be a valuable asset for the Battlehawks in 2023 providing a key roll on the Battlehawks special teams unit. Across 27 games Watson compiled 67 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Renegades, Alouettes, Elks, and Battlehawks.
Watson’s biggest contribution to St. Louis may have not been his play on the field but his impact off it. Watson last year donated his cleats to St. Louis’ Boys and Girls club (Matthews-Dickey Foundation), raising money for youth sports in St. Louis. Moving forward, Watson is now coaching at the High School level in Florida, while contributing to several media outlets specifically regarding the Big Ten.
