The San Antonio Brahmas continue to address their 2024 roster needs and add NFL talent to their offensive backfield with their most recent group of signings. The UFL sent a press release today showing the Brahmas have added former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFarland, re-signed 2023 punter Brad Wing, and defensive lineman Jacob Sykes.

From Pittsburgh to San Antonio

Anthony McFarland comes to the Brahmas after spending the last four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the 2020 NFL draft, the Steelers selected McFarland in the fourth round. While playing for Pittsburgh, McFarland played in 17 games, had 42 carries for 146 yards, and caught 11 passes for 87 yards.

The 5’8″, 193-pound running back played college football at the University of Maryland from 2017 until 2019. While playing at Maryland, he played in 23 games and had 245 rush attempts for 1,648 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown.

Brahmas punter Brad Wing has re-signed with the Brahmas for the 2024 season after spending portions of the 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the 2023 XFL season, Wing had 42 punts, averaging 47.9 yards/punt for the Brahmas. With the return of Wing, the Brahmas have a strong group of specialists for their special teams units.

Adding More Depth to the Defensive Line

Defensive Lineman Jacob Sykes signed with the Brahmas after spending time with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent during the 2023 season. Sykes played college football at Harvard (2018-2021) and UCLA (2022). While at Harvard, Sykes played in 28 games and had 69 tackles and 9.5 quarterback sacks. He also played in 13 games at UCLA and registered 29 tackles and one quarterback sack.

Brahmas Release Nick Holley

Earlier this week, the UFL announced that the Brahmas released Nick Holley. Holley most recently played receiver for the Houston Roughnecks and the Brahmas during the 2023 season. While playing in two games for the Brahmas, Holley had eight receptions for 145 yards. In the UFL press release, Holley appeared as a quarterback, but he had played receiver during his time with the Roughnecks and Brahmas during the XFL season in 2023.
