For back to back seasons Hakeem Butler has continued to dominate the spring football landscape since his arrival to the Battlehawks. After earning Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, Butler now finds himself back in the NFL workout cycle this time with the Carolina Panthers. The former Iowa State Wide Receiver is set to work out for the team before summer break a source tells NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Butler earned All-XFL honors in 2023, and in turn followed it up with an All-UFL selection in 2024 for St. Louis. Butler has totaled 96 Receptions, 1251 Receiving Yards, and 13 TDs in his Spring Football career. A former 2019 4th Round Pick Butler spent 11 days on Carolina’s practice squad before joining the Eagles Active Roster as a Tight End. Butler would spend time with the BC Lions and the Elks of the CFL, before finding his way to the Battlehawks.
The Panthers have signed Six (soon to be Seven with Daewood Davis) spring football players since 2022, most notably LaBryan Ray who appeared in 17 Games recording 19 Tackles in 2023. Butler was one of 16 Battlehawks signed to NFL teams in 2023. Unfortunately, Butler was released by the Steelers at the end of the 2023 Training Camp.
