Tucker Addington will not end his NFL journey quietly. After coming out Sam Houston State in 2020 Addington spent Two seasons working at the Texas Long Snapping Academy before joining the USFL’s Houston Gamblers during the supplemental draft. Since then, Addington’s been consistently chomping at the bit, earning NFL money and playing time as well.

The Gamblers sent Seven players to the NFL in 2022, and Addington along with Domenique Davis still remain rostered to this day. While Davis’ NFL journey has been a bit more linear, the path for Addington has been slightly more “diverse”.

Addington had a workout with the Broncos and would eventually sign with the Cowboys in October of 2022. While it was a short stint of a week, eventually losing out to UFL Alum (09-12) Long Snapper Matt Overton Addington still accomplished an NFL goal many even dream of. A week on an NFL roster, with an NFL paycheck. Now a free agent, Addington would have to work out for the Patriots twice before signing with the team on December 16th filling in for long time ironman Joe Cardona. Addington would finish out the season with New England appearing in 3 games only to be released in August of next year.

A workout with from the Jaguars would give Addington another opportunity (beating out Matt Overton this time), only to once again find him released during final cuts. Workouts with the Bears, Raiders, Cardinals, Falcons Commanders, Steelers, and Bucs would dominate his schedule until the Commanders called December 19th for him to finish the season out in Washington. Another year full of airline miles, workouts, hotel stays, ending in 3 NFL games, and NFL paychecks, however despite his success in April of 2024 Addington was released and on the waiver wire once more.

2024 was much of the same for Addington. A training camp stint with New England, a release during final cuts, a cameo appearance in October (New England), and a Three game stint in Miami before he was released. Addington would with Jacksonville for a week but was released once more before the end of the 2024 NFL season.

As 2025 rolled around Addington would start out as the only Long Snapper with the Texans as the team moved on long time snapper Jon Weeks. The Texans would bring in West Virginia alum Austin Brinkman who after minicamp beat out Addington leading to his release. Now Addington finds himself with the Steelers where he joins former Gamblers DT Domenique Davis and will battle with 2020 XFL Dallas Renegades alum Christian Kuntz for another opportunity.

Addington may be the Kyle Sloter of Long Snappers. He’s worked out for 14 teams signing with 7 of them. He’s appeared in 10 games over Three seasons, earning 1.16 million dollars per spotrac. While it’s safe to assume that Addington may once again find himself released it most likely won’t be for long as Addington may hold the title of being the 33rd best Long Snapper in the NFL.
