Predictions from the writers of UFL News Hub for week 8 of UFL football. It’s a weekend in which every game sees an XFL Divisional team face a USFL Divisional Team. Saturday will see the most anticipated game of the season as the St. Louis Battlehawks travel to Birmingham to take on the Stallions.
UFL Power Rankings Week 7: The Stallions Are Who We Thought They Were
MEMPHIS SHOWBOATS (1-6) VS MICHIGAN PANTHERS (5-2)
Saturday, May 18 | 4:00 PM ET | Detroit, MI | Ford Field | FOX | FOX Sports on SiriusXM
Michigan Panthers (5-2) Final Home Game vs Memphis Showboats (1-6) Week 8 Preview
The Michigan Panthers will be the first team to finish their circuit of home games as they host the Memphis Showboats for their final home game. The Panthers have already clinched the playoffs and are on a 3 game-losing streak. Memphis looks to turn the ship around as they are on a 6 game losing streak and have allowed 30 or more points in each of their last 5 games.
Last time these teams met Michigan won by a score of 35-18.
Writer’s Pick: 100% Michigan
HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS (1-6) VS BIRMINGHAM STALLIONS (7-0)
Saturday, May 18 | 8:00 PM ET | Birmingham, AL | Protective Stadium | ESPN2 | ESPN Xtra on SiriusXM
The Houston Roughnecks are in similar waters as the Memphis Showboats although they have had a lot more close games than Memphis has. Houston is playing for pride as they are only 1-6 and eliminated from playoff contention with 3 games left to play. Birmingham is undefeated on the season and has not lost since week 5 of last season. The Stallions are the clear favorite in this contest. If Houston can pull off the upset and end Birmingham’s 14-game winning streak it will be a strong positive note in what has been a disappointing season for them.
Birmingham won their meeting earlier in the season in Houston by a score of 32-9.
Writer’s Pick: 100% Birmingham
D.C. DEFENDERS (3-4) VS ST. LOUIS BATTLEHAWKS (5-2)
Sunday, May 19 | 12:00 PM ET | St. Louis, MO | The Dome at America’s Center | ABC | ESPN Xtra on SiriusXM
The DC Defenders lost to St. Louis in an embarrassing fashion in week 5 at home by a score of 45-12. They have a chance to get some revenge on the Battlehawks on the road. The Battlehawks faithful present a rocking atmosphere that is arguably the hardest building to play as a visitor in the UFL. St. Louis is 3-0 at home so far this season. DC needs to win this game to keep any realistic hope of making the playoffs alive.
Writer’s Pick: 100% St. Louis
ARLINGTON RENEGADES (1-6) VS SAN ANTONIO BRAHMAS (5-2)
Sunday, May 19 | 4:00 PM ET | San Antonio, TX | The Alamodome | FOX | FOX Sports on SiriusXM
San Antonio is coming off of a win but they have seen their offense really stall over the last 2 weeks as the Brahmas have only scored 27 points in their last 2 games combined. Arlington is coming off their first win of the season in which they dominated the Memphis Showboats 47-23. Arlington has been a lot better than what their record would indicate with the majority of their loses being very close games. Despite their poor record, Arlington has the 4th highest overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
Writer’s Pick: 71% San Antonio
