The “Thicker Kicker” makes his way back to the NFL this time with the LA Rams. After incumbent Josh Karty missed two field goals during the Rams week nine victory Head Coach Sean McVey and GM Les Snead have brought in some competition with Birmingham Stallions Kicker Harrison Mevis.
Mevis returns to the NFL after spending the first couple weeks of the season on the New York Jets practice squad earning approx. $26,000 per spotrac. After joining the Carolina Panthers as a UDFA in 2024, Mevis joined the Birmingham Stallions replacing Chris Blewitt who in-turn replaced NFL star Brandon Aubrey.
Mevis put together a border All-UFL season (losing out to Rodrigo Blankenship of the Battlehawks) going 20 of 21 and earning Week Seven UFL special teams player of the week. His lone miss was a 63-yard attempt that resulted in an Isiah Hennie “kick six”.
Mevis went 3 of 4 for the Jets in the preseason, ultimately losing to NFL veteran (also AAF Hotshots kicker) Nick Folk. Since his release from the practice squad Mevis has worked out for several NFL teams this season as well. Currently the class of 2025 is on pace to earn over 6.7 million dollars this season.
