As the 2025 UFL season is set to begin in less than Two weeks, debate has begun on which UFL Quarterback is QB1 for the league as a whole. While many can continue to talk about that subject while their blue in the face, a less talked about subject is the strength of each room.

Last season 6 of the 8 UFL franchises started more than One QB, with 12 of 16 USFL/XFL franchises starting more than One QB in 2023. While the UFL certainly has their “stars” it is crucial that each room has at least Two QBs that are able to go forward and lead their teams.

Below are the best QBs rooms ranked from worst to best. Stats below do include postseason games as well. The stats included are only from spring football leagues. NFL and CFL stats are not included.

8. Houston Roughnecks

Anthony Brown: None

Nolan Henderson: 526 Pass Yds 2:1, 143 Rush Yds 1 TD

Jalan McClendon: 1002 Pass Yds 5:2, 168 Rush Yds 1 TD

In a 16 team league I’d have a lot of hope for several of these QBs for Houston but with condensed rosters and a lack of vision from Roughnecks HC Curtis Johnson I don’t see much improvement in 2025. Henderson provides a decent amount of mobility to keep the Roughnecks competitive but it really doesn’t look like there is much upside in Houston for a 2nd straight year.

7. St. Louis Battlehawks

Max Duggan: No Stats

Manny Wilkins: 305 Pass Yds 1:3, 141 Rush Yds 3 TDs

Chevan Cordeiro: No Stats

Proof over promise, and there isn’t much proof in the Battlehawks QB room. An erratic sample size from Manny Wilkins, along with limited results from Duggan, and Cordeiro leave a lot to be desired for a room that has totaled only One Passing TD at the professional level.

6, San Antonio Brahmas

Kellen Mond: No Stats

Kevin Hogan: 38 Pass Yds 0:0, 3 Rush Yds 0 TDs

Jarrett Guarantano: 301 Pass Yds 0:0, 36 Rush Yds 1 TD

I think there is a lot of extra pressure on AJ Smith this year to make lemonade out of well non-lemonade ingredients. Smith’s past offenses saw QB’s more experience with veterans like Brandon Silvers, Cole McDonald, and Quinten Dormady all having some level of success. While Kellen Mond is penciled in as QB1 for the season, how excited should Brahmas fans be for a QB that could not beat out Sean Mannion a couple years back.

5. Michigan Panthers

Bryce Perkins: 343 Pass Yds 2:1,181 Rush Yds 2 TDs

Danny Etling: 969 Pass Yds 4:5, 146 Rush Yds 2 TDs

Rocky Lombardi: No Stats

I’d be more inclined to elevate the Panthers if either Perkins or Etling played a full season. Both QBs have the potential to be a Top-4 QB in 2025 however, they may cannibalize reps from each other. Between Perkins or Etling as QB1 Michigan is in pretty good hands, however Rocky Lombardi lacks experience outside of NFL preseason reps. With Michigan starting multiple QBs over the past couple of years(8 Different since 2022), it won’t be outlandish to see all 3 QBs get reps regardless of the Panthers record.

4. D.C. Defenders

Jordan Ta’amu: 7299 Pass Yds 52:31, 1120 Rush Yds 6 TDs

Mike DiLiello: No Stats

Spencer Sanders: No Stats

While Ta’amu is the only QB in the room with any professional experience, DiLiello, and Sanders do own competent resumes at the collegiate level. The success of this room hinges on Ta’amu who since his debut in the XFL 2020 has started all 37 games (35 Reg, 2 Playoff), that he’s healthy for. The consistent Ta’amu elevates the inexperience of the rest of D.C. giving them the 4th best QB room in the UFL.

3. Memphis Showboats

E.J. Perry: 1155 Pass Yds 4:4, 221 Rush Yds 6 TDs

Troy Williams:2352 Pass Yds 12:8, 489 Rush Yds 4 TDs

Dresser Winn: No Stats

I give Memphis the edge over D.C. and Michigan because both Williams and Perry have playoff experience. Both QBs are looking to compete for a starting job giving them 10 auditions to prove they are capable of playing at the next level. Recently the team released Quinten Domady and replaced him with Dresser Winn, a 2023 UDFA from UT-Martin who spent some time in the CFL and NFL.

2. Arlington Renegades:

Luis Perez: 8442 Pass Yds 57:25, 220 Rush Yds 1 TD

Holton Ahlers: 0/0 0 yds 1 car -1 yds

Luke Lehnen: Rookie

Arlington’s QB room is a lot like D.C.’s with Perez holding the bulk of the experience. His backups include Holton Ahlers who played a handful of snaps towards the end of the season in 2024. With Ahlers having another year in the system, Perez’s dominance, and the signing of Luke Lehnen a Two-time Gagliardi winner Arlington is in good hands no matter who is under center.

1. Birmingham Stallions

Alex McGough: 3195 Pass Yds 32:9, 697 Rush Yds 9 TDs

Matt Corral: 614 Pass Yds 4:3, 106 Rush Yds 0 TDs

Case Cookus: 4973 Pass Yds 37:19, 623 Rush Yds 2 TDs

Was there honestly a question which QB room would be #1. It appears that Case Cookus will be their QB3 who ironically has the most experience out of the 3 signal callers. With a 2023 MVP, a 2022 3rd rd pick, and QB with almost 5000 passing yards no matter who is starting for Birmingham the 2025 Stallions each one of Skip Holtz’s Quarterbacks has enough talent and weapons to lead them to another championship.
