The Arlington Renegades of the United Football League (UFL) have significantly added to their roster by signing defensive tackle Doug Costin. Costin, a formidable force on the defensive line, brings a wealth of experience and talent to Arlington as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Born on October 5, 1997, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Costin began his football journey at Bishop Shanahan High School before playing college football at Miami University in Ohio. During his tenure at Miami, Costin emerged as a standout player, starting in 50 games and amassing 178 total tackles and 17 sacks. His stellar performance earned him recognition as a First-team All-MAC player in 2019, showcasing his dominance on the collegiate stage.
Despite going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, Costin’s talent did not go unnoticed. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars shortly after the draft, marking the beginning of his professional football career. Over the following years, Costin had stints with multiple NFL teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, before succeeding in alternative football leagues such as the United States Football League (USFL).
In 2023, Costin joined the Arlington Renegades for the first time, contributing to their triumph as XFL champions. However, his tenure with the team was short-lived as he was released later that year, only to briefly join the Las Vegas Raiders before returning to Arlington for his second stint in 2024.
Costin’s return to the Renegades signifies a strategic move by the organization to bolster their defensive line. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 295 pounds, Costin possesses the size, strength, and agility necessary to disrupt opposing offenses and generate pressure in the trenches. His versatility and proven track record make him a valuable asset to the Renegades as they aim for success in the upcoming UFL season.
As Costin joins forces with his new teammates in Arlington, expectations are high for his impact on the field. With his experience, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Costin is poised to make significant contributions to the Renegades’ defense and help propel the team to victory in the competitive landscape of the UFL.
Renegades fans eagerly anticipate seeing Costin in action as he dons the No. 58 jersey for his new team. With his addition to the roster, the Renegades’ defense gains a formidable presence in the trenches, setting the stage for an exciting and promising season ahead.
