As NFL training camps begin to move forward full speed towards the start of NFL preseason games in 2024, several UFL players continue to get opportunities to prove they have what it takes to contribute to the NFL. For the Brahmas, this has resulted in several of their players recently getting signed with NFL teams so that they can come into training camp and compete for a roster spot. The UFL announced that three players who have either played for the Brahmas in 2024 or have signed to play with San Antonio now have their chance to make an impact for NFL teams; the Brahmas players most recently signed are WR Jontre Kirklin, OLB Zach Morton, and recently signed OLB Marcus Haynes.
Outside linebacker, Marcus Haynes has signed with the Cleveland Browns after recently signing with the San Antonio Brahmas on August 2nd. The 6’4″, 290-pound Haynes has prior experience in the NFL, spending time with the Denver Broncos in 2023 and the Houston Texans in 2024. Haynes played college football at Old Dominion University from 2017 until 2022, appearing in 49 games and recording 102 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles, and five pass deflections.
During the 2024 UFL, wide receiver Jontre Kirklin established himself as one of the top playmakers on the San Antonio Brahmas offense. In 2024, the 6’0″, 184-pound Kirklin caught 56 passes for 614 yards and three touchdowns, and he also completed two passes for 51 yards and one touchdown. Previously, Kirklin has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and the Houston Roughnecks during the 2023 XFL season. Kirklin played college football at LSU from 2017 until 2021, appearing in 56 games, where he caught 20 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns while playing for the Tigers.
Outside linebacker Zach Morton only contributed three tackles and a .5 quarterback sacks for the Brahmas during the 2024 UFL season. Despite his limited production for the Brahmas, the 6’4″, 261-pound Morton gets another opportunity to earn a spot on an NFL roster after spending 2023 with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent. The Green Bay Packers have signed Morton after recently dealing with several injuries to their Edge players in training camp. Morton played college football at the University of Akron from 2021 until 2022, appearing in 21 games and recording 54 tackles, 5.5 quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, and intercepting one pass. Morton spent four seasons at Syracuse before playing at Akron.
