Recently, the San Antonio Brahmas have been hit hard by injuries, which has required the team to make a flurry of roster adjustments to reinforce their roster. Earlier this week, the Brahmas announced that quarterback Chase Garbers would be added to the injured reserve list due to a wrist injury, opening the door for Quentin Dormady to step into the starting quarterback role. In addition to the quarterback position, the Brahmas have now signed former Seattle Sea Dragons running back Morgan Ellison, and they have moved offensive lineman Greg Eiland to the injured reserve list, according to the most recent UFL press release.

Running back Morgan Ellison comes to the Brahmas after being cut by the Arlington Renegades during the first round of roster cuts during training camp. In 2023, Ellison played in 5 games for the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL before suffering injuries that shortened his season. While playing running back for the Sea Dragons, Ellison had 52 rushing attempts for 254 yards and a touchdown.

The 6’1″, 230-pound running back from Pickerington, Ohio, gives the Brahmas some boost in their offensive backfield. During the Brahmas’ first three games, they have struggled to establish their running game and have relied heavily on quarterback Chase Garbers. With Garbers out, the Brahmas are attempting to improve their running game and add some balance to their pass-heavy offense led by offensive coordinator AJ Smith.

Other Roster Issues and Adjustments for the Brahmas

In addition to dealing with a significant quarterback change and adding another running back, the Brahmas continue to manage injury and discipline issues. They have moved offensive lineman Greg Eiland to the injured reserve list, which requires him to be out of the lineup for at least five weeks. In addition to Eiland’s injury, there have been rumors that offensive lineman Chuck Filiaga is also dealing with injury issues.

Along with injuries to the offensive line, the Brahmas also announced earlier this week that they moved defensive back Cam Dantzler to the inactive list. At the same time, linebacker Kelechi Anyalebechi officially moved to the active roster.

The update on these defensive roster moves indicates that the Brahmas changed Dantzler’s status from inactive to being suspended by the team. The team has not released an explanation for the suspension, but he is the second Brahma to be suspended, joining defensive end Tarell Basham. As the Brahmas prepare to face the Michigan Panthers on Saturday, they will need to continue managing injuries and other personnel issues that may arise.
