The San Antonio Brahmas are using the off-season to bolster their defense quality and add additional support players to their offense. During the 2024 UFL season, the Brahmas had one of the top defensive units in the league and found themselves playing for a UFL championship. Since losing that championship game, the Brahmas have made a flurry of roster moves to continue to elevate their defense and find additional playmakers on offense.

According to the UFL, the Brahmas have signed outside linebackers Marcus Haynes and Rashod Berry this week to fortify the edges of their defensive front. San Antonio has also signed running back Hassan Hall and waived placekicker Ryan Santoso.

The San Antonio Brahmas signed placekicker Ryan Santoso after losing their previous kicker, Donald De La Haye, during a Week 2 game against the Memphis Showboats. During the remaining part of the UFL season, Santoso kicked all kickoffs for the Brahmas, and he made 12 out of 18 field goals, including his longest field goal of 51 yards. While Santoso was a serviceable addition to the roster after losing De La Haye, Santoso will be remembered more for his missed field goals in big moments for the Brahmas.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Brahmas have added running back Hassan Hall. The 5’10”, 196-pound native of Atlanta, Georgia, joins the Brahmas roster after spending time on the practice squad for several NFL teams, a list that includes the Cleveland Browns (2023), Arizona Cardinals (2023), New York Giants (2023), and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. Hall played college football at Georgia Tech during the 2022 college football season. While playing for the Yellow Jackets, Hall played in 12 games, ran the ball 116 times for 521 yards and one touchdown, and caught 28 passes for 165 yards. Before coming to Georgia Tech, Hall played in 42 games at the University of Louisville from 2018 until 2021), and he ran the ball 270 times for 1,299 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with catching 22 passes for 175 yards.

On the defensive side, the Brahmas continue to add depth to their outside linebacker/edge rusher position. This week, San Antonio signed outside linebacker Marcus Haynes, who came to the Brahmas after spending time with the Denver Broncos in 2023 and the Houston Texans in 2024. Haynes played in 49 games at Old Dominion University from 2017 until 2022, where he recorded 102 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback sacks, forced four fumbles, and deflected five passes. The 6’4″, 290-pound edge rusher is a native of Bowie, Maryland.

In addition to signing Haynes, the Brahmas also signed edge rusher Rashod Berry. The 6’4″, 255-pound Berry is a native of Lorain, Ohio. Haynes played college football at Ohio State University from 2015 until 2019. Berry only recorded seven tackles for the Buckeyes but also played tight end while in Columbus, catching 17 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns.

The former Buckeye signed with the New England Patriots in 2020 and played in three games with the Patriots. In 2021, New England released Berry, and the Detroit Lions signed him. In 2022, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars but ended up on the Indianapolis Colts roster in 2022. The Colts released Berry after he had violated the NFL Gambling protocol. The NFL has re-instated Berry, but the teams have yet to show interest in signing him on their roster. Signing with the Brahmas gives Berry a chance to prove to scouts and NFL teams that he has what it takes to succeed in professional football.
