The 2024 UFL season was a massive success for the San Antonio Brahmas despite losing in the first UFL championship game 25 to 0 against the Birmingham Stallions. During Brahma’s first season as a franchise during the 2023 XFL season, San Antonio struggled to a 3-7 record. This season, the Brahmas flipped that record to 7-3 in the UFL; they upset the Saint Louis Battlehawks in the XFL Conference championship game and played for a UFL championship.

Along the way, several Brahmas had notable performances for San Antonio. Some of those performances were recognized when the UFL announced the 2023 All-UFL team. Offensive lineman Kohl Levao and linebacker Tavante Beckett were selected as All-UFL players, and today, a press release from the UFL announced that Levao was able to use his UFL success to get signed by the New York Jets in the NFL.

One of the UFL’s missions is to give players who may have slipped through the cracks in the world of professional football an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to play professional football. Levao started his spring football journey with the San Antonio Brahmas during the 2023 season, playing in 10 games for the Brahmas after coming to San Antonio after playing for the Frisco Fighters in the IFL. In 2024, Levao was again allowed to play for the Brahmas, this time in the UFL.

Levao took that opportunity and ran with it, playing in every Brahmas game this season including the XFL Conference championship game and UFL championship game. The UFL, a platform that has proven to be a stepping stone for many, has transformed Levao’s ability to stay healthy and become a foundational piece for the Brahmas offensive line into an opportunity to make an impact in the NFL with the Jets. Several UFL players have signed with NFL teams since the conclusion of the UFL season, and with the Brahmas success on the field, it is expected that several others Brahmas could also get NFL opportunities in the near future, instilling hope in the hearts of aspiring players.
