During the 2024 UFL season, the San Antonio Brahmas made tremendous strides as a franchise, achieving their first winning season in their two-year history. The Brahmas rode their success to a 7-3 record, an XFL division championship, and an appearance in the first UFL Championship game. Along with having a successful season as a team, the Brahmas have also had several players get an opportunity to move on to the NFL after displaying their talent and skills for NFL teams during the UFL season.
Earlier this summer, Brahmas offensive lineman Kohl Levao signed with the New York Jets, and defensive lineman Prince Emili signed with the Atlanta Falcons. One motivating factor for players to compete in the UFL is to earn a chance with an NFL Team. Today, another San Antonio lineman received an NFL opportunity, according to a tweet by the UFL Newsroom and UFL insider James Larsen; the Atlanta Falcons have signed Brahmas offensive tackle Julien Davenport.
Davenport joins the Falcons training camp roster as NFL teams prepare to start training camp. During the 2024 UFL season, Davenport signed with the San Antonio Brahmas early after the Brahmas struggled with multiple injuries to its starters on its offensive line. After signing with the Brahmas, Davenport stepped into a role on the Brahmas and helped stabilize the personnel situation that the Brahmas offensive line experienced.
Prior to coming to the UFL, Davenport had several opportunities to play on the offensive line with multiple NFL teams. In 2017, the Houston Texans drafted Davenport in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Davenport played in 27 games with the Texans from 2017 until 2019. During the 2019 season, Davenport was released by Houston and signed with the Miami Dolphins, and during that season, he played in eight games for the Dolphins.
In 2020, Davenport played in 16 additional games with the Dolphins. Heading into the 2021 NFL season, Davenport signed with the Indianapolis Colts and played in nine games for them. After the 2021 season, Davenport bounced around the league, spending 2022 with the Chicago Bears and 2023 with the New York Giants.
Davenport is a 6’7″, 315-pound native of Paulsboro, New Jersey. Before starting his career in professional football, Davenport played college football at Bucknell University from 2013 until 2016. While at Bucknell, Davenport began to play in 44 games for the Bison.
