After the first week of training camp in 2025, the San Antonio Brahmas started the player evaluation process early. This weekend, after the first week of practice and scrimmages, the Brahmas released four players from the herd: running back La’Damian Webb, tight end Matt Seybert, offensive lineman Briason Mays, and defensive tackle Taron Vincent.

Webb, Seybert, and Mays were all new additions to the Brahmas roster after being signed during the offseason. Seybert has already been claimed off waivers by the Arlington Renegades, which face the Brahmas in Week 1 of the 2025 season. Vincent played in seven games for the Brahmas in 2024, recording 10 solo tackles, four assists, and one quarterback sack.

The Brahmas also added two players at the end of the first week of training camp. According to a tweet by UFL Insider James Larsen, the Brahmas have signed wide receiver Kawaan Baker and re-signed defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman.

Earlier this week in training camp, the Brahmas re-signed running back Anthony McFarland Jr. after suspending Hassan Hall. That series of moves restored the Brahmas offensive backfield to the level of talent that they had last season during their run to the UFL championship game. Adding wide receiver Kawaan Baker will add more depth to one of the UFL’s best receiver groups. Coupling Baker, Jontre Kirklin, and the Brahma’s other playmakers with offensive coordinator AJ Smith, the Brahmas should have a good chance to repeat as XFL Conference champions in 2025.

Baker comes to the Brahmas and spends several years with NFL teams, including the New Orleans Saints, the New England Patriots, the Green Bay Packers, and the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2021, the New Orleans Saints selected Baker selected Baker in the 7th round of the NFL Draft. The 6’1″, 210-pound Baker played college football at the University of South Alabama from 2017 until 2020. Baker played 45 games for the South Alabama Jaguars, catching 126 passes for 1,829 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In addition to adding Baker to the offense, the Brahmas have re-signed defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman after Twyman played in four games for the Brahmas during the 2024 regular season and post-season after being released by the Birmingham Stallions. Twyman played in 2 games for the Stallions, recording one solo tackle, one assist, and .5 sacks. He added three solo tackles, one assist, and two quarterback sacks while playing for the Brahmas. Before coming to the UFL, Twyman spent time with the Minnesota Vikings (2022), the Miami Dolphins (2023), and the New York Jets (2024). The Vikings selected Twyman in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
