In 2024, the San Antonio Brahmas took advantage of their opportunity to be invited to the UFL last Spring. The Brahmas made a series of organizational changes as they prepared to start their first season in the UFL after going 3-7 in their first season as a franchise during the 2023 XFL season. Those changes allowed the Brahmas to turn the direction of their young franchise around. The result was an XFL Conference championship and an appearance in the UFL championship game.
During the first off-season for the UFL teams, the Brahmas and head coach Wade Phillips made it clear that they were not satisfied with their success during the 2024 season. The Brahmas have been one of the most active teams in the UFL this off-season as they are prepared to make another championship run during the 2025 UFL season. Today, the Brahmas continued building their 2025 roster by agreeing to bring cornerback Bryce Thompson back to the San Antonio roster for the 2025 UFL season, according to a UFL news release.
Thompson returns to a Brahmas defensive backfield that has established itself as one of the most vital defensive position groups in the UFL. During the 2024 UFL season, Thompson played in several games for the Brahmas, recording 19 solo tackles, eight assists, and one quarterback sack. Before coming to the Brahmas roster in 2024, Thompson played ten games for the Seattle Sea Dragons. He intercepted two passes and recorded 21 solo tackles, 13 assists, and five quarterback sacks during the 2023 XFL season.
The 5’11”, 190-pound defensive back has had several opportunities to earn his way onto a roster in the NFL. In 2021, Thompson was signed by the New Orleans Saints after he signed with New Orleans after not being drafted in the 2021 NFL draft. While playing for the Saints, Thompson played eight games and recorded two tackles. In addition to being on the Saints roster, Thompson spent the 2023 NFL season with the Miami Dolphins.
Thompson played 32 games for the University of Tennessee from 2018 until 2020. While playing for the Volunteers, Thompson intercepted eight interceptions, including one interception for a defensive touchdown. Thompson also had 73 solo tackles, 29 assists, and 2.0 quarterback sacks.
