During the fall of 2024, the San Antonio Brahmas were one of the most aggressive teams in the UFL when it came to acquiring new players for the 2025 UFL season during the UFL offseason. During the 2024 season, the Brahmas ended up being one win short of the inaugural UFL championship. Brahmas head coach Wade Phillips and his staff could have been satisfied with leading San Antonio to an impressive turnaround from being a mediocre XFL team in 2023 to being a championship team, winning the 2024 XFL Conference championship.

Instead of being satisfied, the Brahmas are working hard to bring in more playmakers, especially on the offensive side of the ball. During the 2024 season, the Brahmas struggled with injuries to several key players on the offensive side of the ball, and a lack of high-quality depth made it difficult for San Antonio to live up to the explosive potential of offensive coordinator AJ Smith’s innovative offense. This week, the Brahmas have continued to address the need for more playmakers on offense, adding two wide receivers that bring NFL experience to the Brahmas roster.

A UFL press release states that the Brahmas have signed wide receivers, Greg Ward and Racey McMath.

Receivers Ward and McMath join a Brahmas roster with several playmakers at the wide receiver position, including Jontre Kirklin, Marquez Stevenson, and Justin Smith. What may set Ward and McMath apart from the other Brahmas receivers is that they both have significant playing experience at the NFL level. That experience will give Ward and McMath a solid chance to compete for a roster spot on the Brahmas 2025 roster, and they will also put the current Brahmas receivers in a position in which they need to come to training camp ready to perform at a high level to maintain a secure position on the Brahmas depth chart.

Greg Ward comes to the Brahmas after spending some of the 2024 NFL season with the Indianapolis Colts. The 5’11”, 186-pound receiver started his professional football career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017 until 2023. While playing for the Eagles, Ward played in 40 games and caught 88 passes for 768 yards and ten touchdowns.

Ward also has previous experience playing in San Antonio. He spent the 2019 Alliance of American Football season with the San Antonio Commanders, playing in 8 games and catching 22 passes for 214 yards. Collegiately, Ward played at the University of Houston from 2013 until 2016. While at Houston, Ward played in 49 games and caught 25 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns.

Like Ward, Racey McMath comes to the Brahmas after spending some of the 2024 NFL season with the Dallas Cowboys. The Tennessee Titans drafted McMath in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL draft. McMath played for the Titans from 2021 until 2023, where he played in 14 games and caught four passes for 48 yards. Before being drafted, the 6’3″, 217-pound receiver McMath played college football at LSU from 2017 until 2020. While playing for the Tigers, McMath appeared in 34 games and caught 33 passes for 522 yards and four touchdowns.
