As the San Antonio Brahmas prepare to face the Saint Louis Battlehawks in the XFL Conference championship, they must fill a defensive lineman spot on their roster. In a surprising announcement by the UFL, Brahmas defensive lineman Tariqious Tisdale has announced his retirement from football.

As the Brahmas gear up for their first playoff game in franchise history, Tisdale’s decision to retire at this crucial moment is surprising. His retirement left San Antonio with three defensive linemen on their active roster. Currently, defensive tackle Prince Emili and defensive ends Caeveon Patton and Jaylen Twyman are the only players left on the Brahmas defensive line. If the Brahmas defeat the Saint Louis Battlehawks for the first time this season, the lack of depth on their defensive line could pose a significant challenge as they prepare for the UFL Championship game.

Tisdale joined the Brahmas roster during the 2024 season after spending time with the Seattle Sea Dragons during the 2023 XFL season. In 2022, the Houston Roughnecks drafted Tisdale in the seventh round of the XFL draft, but he found his way to the Sea Dragons roster by the start of the season. While playing for Seattle, Tisdale played in two regular season games and a playoff game, recording nine tackles and 2.0 quarterback sacks. During the 2024 UFL season, Tisdale did not play in any games for the Brahmas this season.

Before coming to the XFL and then UFL, Tisdale spent the 2022 NFL season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Tisdale played college football at the University of Mississippi from 2018 until 2021. He played in 34 games for the Rebels, registering 88 tackles and 3.0 quarterback sacks. In 2017, Tisdale played 11 games at Northwest Mississippi Community College, recording 31 tackles and 5.0 quarterback sacks.
