Musings of the UFL Post Week 3:
    1. The Houston Roughnecks defense has been really tough the last two weeks after an awful first week. Furthermore, it would have been so easy to quit, instead Tashawn Bower took the opportunity to sign with the team. Where last year’s team quit and became selfish and committing penalty after penalty this year’s team has galvanized.
After 2 good defensive outings and coming off a hard fought win with the Stallions coming in, I hope they bring over 10,000 in to root on the Roughnecks in the upset bid.
    2. The UFL should NOT allow gambling sites to dictate what happens in a game. Betting sites should not entice bettors to bet on the Stallions by making them 3 1/2 point favorites, expecting the referees to make the sites a winner. The officiating was absolutely awful in the game. At one time the Stallions had almost as many yards in penalties as the Renegades had. One of the was a pass interference penalty that wasn’t, but really was per Mike Parrera. Normally, he would have never agreed that was a penalty against the Stallions. When you take into account the UFL did not throw a flag against the Renegades until the 3rd quarter and the Stallions had to jump over the line of scrimmage, but 3 yards and point at the person who moved’s left foot, it is clear the referees did not WANT to throw a flag against the Renegades. It’s one thing to call what you see it is another to have your mind predetermined to see what you are hoping to see. Even Skip Holtz was caught on tape saying and “don’t give me that throw a challenge flag crap”. I don’t know if a referee has told him that or was Skip Holtz just jumping to the next level. What I do know is the outcome of that game was directly affected by the referees although Dany Garcia says she doesn’t want to be that league.
    3. Is it possible the Battlehawks re-sign AJ McCarron? He already knows the plays and he promises not to throw any more coaches under the bus and the league promises to stop eavesdropping on him in case they forget.
    4. It’s one thing for the league to say they can only afford to pay a certain salary or benefits for only a certain time. I understand that, but I implore you to penalize for targeting and helmet to helmet hits when it is clear the defenders are jettisoning their bodies to cause helmet to helmet collisions with a defenseless receiver. I can tell you players like Malik Turner are good for this league and I can tell you he is questioning, just how MINOR is this league to allow the two hits on him not to be penalized. Personally, it was clear a flag should have been thrown that it makes me feel this game, too, was fixed for the Brahmas to beat the spread. I keep watching to see if you will change this. Please allow for the officiating to be real. It seems crazy to say this, but refereeing in the USFL was excellent so I really blame the XFL guys for this. Can we get the Woods fellow back? And the guys who call the game don’t even mention it. It is so clear the announcers are entertainers and not football people. Please guys. I grew up on Pat Summerall and John Madden. Please try to emulate those announcers, not with all the stupid stuff. Literally, I would be a better announcer than these guys are, so much better.
    5. Looking forward to the Renegades vs Battlehawks. It should be a good battle. If you are going to fix games, despite what I say, please don’t make this one of the games you fix. Last week’s Battlehawks vs Defenders was the most important game of the season. This week’s Battlehawks vs Renegades now replaces that as the most important game of the season.
    6. I noticed that no matter how hard I screamed at the TV I could not get Matt Corral to run. He ran a couple of times toward the end of the game, but could it be that teams are realizing maybe it’s not so good to let the QB run on every play due to fear of injury?
    7. Frank Ginda looked like Frank Ginda when they needed him to most. I am not sure how many tackles he got, but he was very solid in the middle.
    8. Looking at the rough sledding at the running back position and wondering why Darius Victor is not in the league. If anyone can give me an answer that would be awesome.
    9. When Mike Mitchell reported the of the Showboats game many of the commenters mentioned how the league should fold them up next season. Someone mentioned to see about a potential buyer and if they cannot sell the team fold it up. To me if they can sell it that would be best. The league needs to start going that route for the best possible product.
    10. Notable milestones that could be reached in the UFL milestones for this week. Matt Corral could reach 1,000 yards passing. Abram Smith can reach 1,000 yard rushing with 68 yards. Jacob Saylors next rushing touchdown will be his 10th. Jahcour Pearson and Jontre Kirklin could make 1,000 yards receiving and with 86 yards Sal Cannella could reach 1,500, which would be second only to Jonathan Adams 1,621 yards receiving.
