The United Football League (UFL) launches its 2024 marketing campaign centered on Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates’ path from the UFL to NFL success. The campaign highlights Bates’ record-setting 64-yard field goal at Ford Field during his time with the Michigan Panthers.

The UFL commercial opens with footage of Bates’ field goal before transitioning to text reading “Wonder where this guy is now.” This messaging positions the UFL as a direct path to NFL opportunities, using Bates’ statistics to support the narrative.

Bates’ performance metrics reinforce the UFL’s message. His UFL stats show 17 successful field goals on 22 attempts, while his NFL numbers with Detroit include 23 made field goals on 26 attempts through Week 16.

The timing of this campaign aligns with the UFL’s March 28 season opener, targeting football fans during the NFL offseason. The league continues promoting its connection to NFL talent development, with Bates serving as the proof point of the system’s effectiveness.

The UFL’s second season builds on this established pipeline, maintaining eight teams across the Midwest and Southern United States. This structure stems from the XFL and USFL merger prior to the 2024 season.

The league’s marketing strategy connects directly with NFL aspirations, showcasing Bates’ transition from Panthers kicker to Lions starter. This approach targets both potential players and fans, emphasizing the UFL’s role in professional football development.

The 2025 UFL season schedule should be coming soon within the next couple of days.
