As we pass the midpoint of the 10-game regular season in the UFL, the playoff picture is starting to come into focus. With the top team from each conference automatically qualifying for the playoffs, along with the two teams with the best overall records, the battle for postseason spots is heating up.

XFL Conference Playoff Picture

In the XFL Conference, the St. Louis Battlehawks have taken control with a 5-1 record and a five-game winning streak. They appear to be in a strong position to claim at least a playoff berth. The San Antonio Brahmas, despite a Week 6 loss, remain in the hunt at 4-2. The DC Defenders have fought their way back to 3-3 and cannot be counted out just yet. However, the Arlington Renegades, at 0-6, are effectively eliminated from playoff contention.

Even if Arlington won out and finished 4-6, like they did in 2023, they would tie with San Antonio, if the Brahmas lost all their remaining games. Not to mention the D.C. Defenders are still in the mix.

Arlington takes on the Showboats this week but then face San Antonio in week 8. A win this week, with a Brahmas or Panthers loss, then they still have a shot at the playoffs, barley.

The Birmingham Stallions have been the class of the USFL Conference, sitting at a perfect 6-0. They are the first UFL team to clinch a playoff spot. The Michigan Panthers, at 4-2, are in a good position to claim one of the two wild-card spots.

The Memphis Showboats and Houston Roughnecks, both at 1-5, face an uphill battle to get back into the playoff race. At best both could be 5-5 with no chance at the USFL Conference title. The only way to get into the playoffs is via their record. They need the Defenders to beat the Panthers this week. The Roughnecks also need to beat the Brahmas this week to remain in the mix.

USFL Conference

As the season enters its final four weeks, every game takes on added importance. The Stallions and Battlehawks have set the pace, but there is still plenty of time for other teams to make their move. With playoff spots and positioning on the line, expect the intensity to ramp up as we head down the stretch.
