UFL News:
Interim head coach Shannon Harris made an impressive debut with the Defenders, leading the team to an 18-11 upset victory over the defending champion Birmingham Stallions in Week 1. The Defenders’ defense was dominant, recording eight sacks in the victory, showcasing why they’re considered one of the league’s top defensive units. Meanwhile, Memphis looks to rebound from a heartbreaking loss to Michigan where they were in position for a potential game-tying drive before a late interception was returned for a touchdown. The Showboats also hit this field for the first time with head coach Ken Whisenhunt calling the offensive plays.

UFL Musings 4-8-2025 I really hope the UFL is reading and I include Shannon Harris in this.
1. I do not know what Skip Holtz’s feelings are toward Shannon Harris. I do know, however, that with Shannon Harris’ outburst he does NOT respect doormen. Especially in a league that records everything, think before you talk.
2. Congratulations to EJ Perry who basically told “sideline reporters” to remain on the sidelines and not hinder FOOTBALL. There is NO place for those reporters on the field until the game is over. Football has to remain the most important thing during a presentation of football. IF he reprimands in anyway the league will lose me as a fan. I have other ways to spend my time.
3. Isiah Hennie continues to cause teams to lose football games while performing punt return duties. Even though I have a previously reported on more than one occasion that he does not revere possessing the football. Having him on the team is paying homage to a time when the league had little prospects so you dealt with his fumbling, because as a wide receiver he had a good deal of upside. Even with Jonathan Adams on the sideline and with Vinny Papale on the sidelines he too remained on the sidelines.
Jim Monos and Ken Whisenhunt should ask themselves if he has provided anything toward losing a football game, because that fumbled punt lost you the game. Was it his first time fumbling a punt? I would say it was his 4th or 5th time fumbling a punt.
4. The league has lost sight of what football is. To me this league should be called the UFE. With the way the league has sold out to TV the league needs to be call United Football Entertainment. Reporters should not the be on the field, ever. I think videotaping access is already too much, but you want to keep that keep that, even though it is detrimental to football. AJ McCarron would still be in the league if you didn’t do that. That stated, if you want to do that do that. Once if actually affects how the game is played and called it’s time to stop this. Whoever wins the game is really secondary or somewhere further down the list.
5. The announcers are God awful on ABC and ESPN. Curt Menefee who doesn’t know everything about football, is a great person and personality that respects the game more than himself and asks questions, tries to help the game and league overall. The ABC and ESPN buffoons ran the Beer Snake bit again, talked about gambling and playcalling, although I did notice gambling may have been down a bit, almost to a great part. However, they did not discuss the propensity that Isiah Hennie fumbles nor did they discuss what a game changer that is and how that really killls a team. They didn’t discuss they because they are entertainers and don’t know or care about football. To take it one step further. 2 minutes in the game…….The guy EJ Perry was discussing when he said that no one can cover him. Your own team talked about how he had great stats today yes Jonathan Adams who injured himself earlier game was on the sidelines with a 3rd down two minutes left. Instead they were talking about what play call they were calling. What a joke. They also did not talk about that right now, they were in field goal range for a game winning kick if not for the fumble. Please, put football people in this game. Just a JOKE all around. Russ Brandon please look at what you are doing. Watch that game and tell me I don’t have it right.
