Which former spring football stars were among a few bright spots on an otherwise dismal afternoon for their team?
The answer is Brandon Aubrey and KaVontae Turpin of the Dallas Cowboys. It was a rough afternoon for the Cowboys in their 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. It was the third loss in a row for Dallas and proved to be a costly one. Unfortunately, quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for several weeks. Adding to the Cowboys’ woes, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was in obvious pain from a shoulder injury for much of the game.
Brandon Aubrey-Dallas Cowboys Kicker
Despite the loss, the Cowboys had something to cheer about when star kicker Aubrey booted a stunning 57-yard field goal. Aubrey continued his impressive second year with Dallas and was perfect again on Sunday. He kicked two out of two field goals along with two out of two extra points.
KaVontae Turpin-Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver and Return Specialist
On Sunday, Turpin had three receptions for 36 yards. However, Turpin is proving especially valuable as a kick and punt return specialist. In eight games this year, he has returned 13 kickoffs averaging 34.2 yards for 444 yards. His longest kickoff return was 79 yards. Turpin scored a touchdown as a punt returner on nine punts for 146 yards.
Jalen Dalton -Dallas Cowboys Defensive Tackle
The former San Antonio Brahmas DT Jalen Dalton remained on the practice squad for the Cowboys this week.
The New York Jets
The Monday night New York Jets game against the Houston Texans featured one of the most thrilling touchdown receptions in recent memory. Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson managed to stay in bounds after making a spectacular one-handed grab in the end zone. Although Wilson’s left knee landed out of bounds, the refs ruled the reception good because his shin hit the ground first. The 21-13 victory over Houston raised the Jets season record to 3-5.
Unfortunately, the former UFL players were inactive for the win.
Adrian Martinez- New York Jets Quarterback
Adrian Martinez, the talented Birmingham Stallions quarterback and UFL MVP remained on the practice squad again this week.
Kohl Levao- New York Jets Offensive Lineman
Similarly, former San Antonio Brahmas OL Kohl Levao remained on the practice squad again this week.

Deon Cain -Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver
He was active on the 53-man roster for the Buffalo Bills’ 30-27 victory over the Maimi Dolphins, however, Deon Cain, the former Birmingham Stallions wide receiver was not targeted by quarterback Josh Allen.
Jalen Redmond -Minnesota Vikings DE
D.C. Defenders stand out Jalen Redmond recorded one solo tackle and an assist on a second tackle during the Vikings 21-13 win on Sunday night over the Indianapolis Colts.
