In front of a Kaw-crazed and energized home crowd, St. Louis Battlehawks running back Jacob Saylors treated the crowd to a star-making performance.
Saylors, the UFL News Hub “Player of the Week,” scored three rushing touchdowns to give St. Louis a 26-9 victory over the visiting San Antonio Brahmas. Helping his team maintain their 2-0 undefeated record, Saylors entered the game having already scored one rushing touchdown this season and picked up right where he left off. On Sunday, Saylors added 11 carries for 46 yards with three rushing touchdowns. He had 25 yards on three receptions.
Saylors started the night with a 20-yard rushing touchdown, followed it up with an initially disputed one-yard score, and then topped his night off with a five-yard dash into the end zone.
ALL-UFL TEAM Performance in 2024
Named to the All-UFL team a year ago, Saylors continues to prove he is the league’s best running back. In addition to setting the UFL record for the most total touchdowns with eight, Saylors tied the record for second in the league with five rushing touchdowns.
In 2024, Saylors’ 461 rushing yards on 94 carries were second only to UFL League MVP (and New York Jets quarterback) Adrian Martinez. In addition to his rushing yardage, Saylors added 152 receiving yards with three touchdowns. His 54 points established Saylors’s as the UFL’s number one scoring leader, not including quarterbacks or field goal kickers.
Saylors’ History
A four-year starter at Marion County High School, Saylors had over 4,100 yards with 74 touchdowns. He ended his senior year with 126 carries for 1,795 yards with 36 touchdowns. Attending East Tennessee State University, Saylors was a dual threat at running back and kick return specialist.
In his junior year, Saylors was named Associated Press Second Team All-American, First Team Media All-SoCon, and other honors. He finished the season with 1,019 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Saylors added another 143 yards on 19 receptions with one touchdown and 25 kick returns for 750 yards.
Following the NFL Draft, Saylors signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad and started five games. As a Falcon, Saylors totalled 653 rushing yards on 112 carries, four touchdowns, and 16 catches for 150 receiving yards.
AN ALL-STAR Performance in 2025
Looking to repeat his star-making turn this year, Saylors has 27 carries for 144 yards with four touchdowns, and 7 receptions for 72 yards. Last year, following his UFL debut, Saylors spent time with the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants during the pre-season. Although neither team signed him to their active roster, if Saylors continues to play at this level, it won’t be long before other NFL teams take notice.
