When the USFL announced that they were having a college draft in February of 2023, a lot of fans and media were extremely surprised, confused, and hopeful for the new wave of players that could be suiting up for the 2023 season and beyond. As we look at the USFL Draft over 2 Years removed let’s take a look at the 8th round of USFL Draft picks from the 2023 Draft.
56th Overall Michigan Panthers Defensive Lineman Andrew Farmer
Farmer has carved out a decent career for himself three years removed from Division-II Lane College. He’s appeared in 8 career NFL games, spending time with the Chargers and Broncos before being waived during the 2025 NFL training camp. He’s had several NFL workouts since his release.
57th Overall Pittsburgh Maulers Wide Receiver C.J. Turner
Turner received limited NFL interest and opted for the USFL on March 30th, 2023. He’d appear in 6 games recording 3 receptions for 44 yards in his lone professional season. After not being drafted during the UFL merger, Turner is now a coach with FCS Utah Tech going into his second season with the program.
58th Overall Houston Gamblers Tight End Brady Russell
Russell was “tweener” at Colorado playing both Linebacker and Tight End in his collegiate career. He’s carved out a role for the Seahawks (who claimed him off the Eagles Practice Squad) being used as a blocking Tight End, and Special Teams standout over the past three season.
59th Overall Memphis Showboats Wide Receiver Trea Shropshire
After a solid career at UAB, Trea Shropshire would spend 2023 out of football. He had a cup of coffee with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, and Hamiliton Tiger Cats during preseason but has yet to make his professional regular season debut.
60th Overall New Orleans Breakers Wide Receiver Jake Bobo
Bobo went from UDFA afterthought to late season fantasy playoff hero in 2023 with the Seattle Seahawks. He’s spent the last three seasons with Seattle and will probably be putting off a UFL appearance for the foreseeable future. He’s appeared in 40 games (so far) with 34 receptions for 323 yards and 3 TDs in his NFL career going into week 10.

61st Overall New Jersey Generals Punter Adam Korsak
The Generals looked to possibly find a replacement for long time professional punter Brock Miller grabbing Korsak from Rutgers in 2023. After being invited to rookie minicamps with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs, Korsak signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after the team selected him in the CFL global draft. He appeared in 36 games for the Roughriders over 2023 and 2024, opting to retire in May of 2025.
62nd Overall Philadelphia Stars Defensive Lineman Trey Botts
Botts signed a UDFA deal with the Ravens after coming out of Division-II CSU Pueblo. He received a $3,000 signing bonus with Baltimore before being released during final cuts. Botts signed a contract with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL for the 2024 season, before the USFL and the XFL merged into one professional league. He was eventually drafted as the No. 1 pick in the second round by the San Antonio Brahmas in the United Football League Super Dispersal Draft in early January. Botts would sign with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL however, never appeared in a game.
63rd Overall Birmingham Stallions Offensive Lineman Mark Evans II
After being selected by the Stallions, Evans would sign with the New Orleans Saints as a UDFA making the team on their practice squad. He’d be released during final cuts in 2024, later signing with the UFL’s Arlington Renegades in spring of 2025. After being released Evans would join the Edmonton Elks appearing in 16 games for the team in 2025.
