Ricky Proehl

Head Coach

St. Louis Battlehawks

Ricky Proehl takes over the St. Louis Battlehawks, returning to the city where he reached one of the mountaintops of his playing career. Proehl played 17 NFL seasons as a wide receiver from 1990 to 2006, suiting up for the Cardinals, Seahawks, Bears, Rams, Panthers, and Colts, and finishing with more than 650 career receptions and 8,800 receiving yards.

Proehl is best remembered for his postseason clutch. He caught the Rams' go-ahead touchdown in the 1999 NFC Championship Game en route to a Super Bowl XXXIV victory over Tennessee, then delivered a dramatic game-tying touchdown in the final seconds of regulation in Super Bowl XXXVIII for the Carolina Panthers. He added a second Super Bowl ring as a member of the 2006 Indianapolis Colts before retiring as one of his era's most respected locker-room veterans.

After his playing days, Proehl spent years as the Carolina Panthers' wide receivers coach, mentoring a generation of NFL pass-catchers. He now brings that Super Bowl pedigree and position-coaching experience to a Battlehawks franchise that has quickly become one of the UFL's most passionately supported.
