Fanatics Flag Football Event Announces New Location

There is a change to the Fanatics Flag Football Classic schedule for later this morning.

Originally, the event was scheduled for March 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but that is no longer the case. Due to the conflict in Iran, the event has been moved to Los Angeles, California.

The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will be held at BMO Stadium, home to Los Angeles FC in the MLS. March 21 will remain the event date.

More about what the Fanatics Flag Football Classic is

This event is the first step toward establishing a professional flag football league. There will be three teams, each with 12 players, participating on the day.

The Founders FFC will be led by former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts as the captains, and coached by Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Wildcats FFC will be captained by Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan as the coach. The final team will be made up of the IFAF Flag Football World Champion U.S. Men's National Team with Aamir Brown and Darrell "Housh" Doucette as the captains, and coached by Jorge Cascudo.

Wildcats FFC and Founders FFC will be drafting from a pool of 18 players, including Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, actor and comedian Kevin Hart, and WWE superstar Logan Paul. New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh will be the defensive specialist coach for both teams, with Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald serving as commissioners of the event.

The hope for the event, beyond creating a professional league, is to push flag football across the United States and get people interested. Coming up at the 2028 Summer Olympics, flag football will be included for the first time, with the possibility that NFL players could participate.

A successful event could help push the sport further and give more reason to make football an even more global event.
