The fifth episode of the UFL docuseries "4th & Goal" follows the St. Louis Battlehawks into a Week 5 road game against the undefeated Orlando Storm. The Battlehawks won 25-17 and handed Orlando its first loss of the season.
Episode 5 is titled "Frenemies." It is the fifth of six episodes in the series. The episode covers a run of quarterback moves across the UFL and the Week 5 matchup between the 2-2 Battlehawks and the 4-0 Storm.
Quarterback Moves Across the UFL
The episode opens with a roundup of quarterback changes. Matt Corral and Dorian Thompson-Robinson join the same roster. Jason Bean is traded to DC. Chandler Rogers takes over the starting job in Louisville.
St. Louis makes the largest move. Starting quarterback Michael Pratt suffers a rib injury in Week 4. The Battlehawks trade for veteran quarterback Luis Perez. Perez needs time to learn the playbook, so backup Harrison Frost gets the Week 5 start.
Two Coaches and a Pizza Bet
The Week 5 game has a backstory. Battlehawks head coach Ricky Proehl played receiver for the 1999 St. Louis Rams "Greatest Show on Turf." Orlando head coach Anthony Becht coached in St. Louis before he took the Storm job. The two coaches place a bet before kickoff. The losing coach buys the winner pizza from Aldi.
St. Louis wide receiver Hakeem Butler is the focus of the Battlehawks offense in the episode.
The Game: Battlehawks at Storm
St. Louis started fast. Harrison Frost hit Hakeem Butler on downfield throws. Running back Kylin James scored a touchdown. The St. Louis defense forced turnovers on downs and shut out the top-ranked Orlando offense. The Battlehawks led 18-0 at halftime.
Frost ran in a touchdown on a fake early in the third quarter. St. Louis led 25-0.
Orlando answered. Quarterback Will Plummer led an 82-yard touchdown drive. Orlando then blocked a St. Louis punt deep in Battlehawks territory. Dawson scored on a touchdown run. Orlando cut the deficit to 25-14 in just over six minutes of game clock.
A 32-yard Orlando field goal made it 25-17. Orlando skipped the onside kick and used the UFL fourth-quarter rule. The Storm attempted a 4th-and-12 play from their own 28-yard line to keep the ball. They completed a pass over the middle and converted. Orlando was the first team to convert the play all season.
Orlando drove for the tying score and faced 4th-and-13. Plummer's pass fell incomplete under pressure. St. Louis held on.
The Result
The Battlehawks won 25-17 on the road. Orlando dropped to 4-1 and took its first loss. St. Louis improved to 3-2 and stayed in the playoff race. Luis Perez prepares for his first snaps with St. Louis as the second half of the season starts.
