While the UFL offseason has begun another "slow" period, one major piece of not only spring football, but the Battlehawks offense seems to be on a different path for the time being. Battlehawk quarterback Luis Perez has now signed with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts for his 13th professional team across seven leagues.
Perez is coming off a year where he started as the Dallas Renegades backup quarterback behind Austin Reed. A midseason trade to the St. Louis Battlehawks allowed Perez to finish the season as a starter, that ultimately led to a playoff loss to the Louisville Kings. Perez, whose been in the professional football circuit since 2018, has been known as the "spring king" amassing over 10,000 passing yards, along with an XFL championship in 2023 with the Renegades.
Perez is not the only Battlehawk to join a CFL team this offseason. Offensive lineman Bradley Ashmore, and Quarterback Harrison Frost have both signed CFL contracts this offseason as well. It is unknown at this time if Perez will return to the UFL in 2027, however with the league making an effort to bring in younger talent Perez who is now 32 years old may be on the outside looking in, when it comes to an opportunity.
The Battlehawks have also seen a bit of change during the UFL to NFL signing cycle with Gary Jennings, Trey Dean, and Sean Fresch all rostered with NFL teams. Perez now joins the Argonauts who roster Nick Arbuckle, Tucker Horn, Chad Kelly, and Paxton DeLaurent.
