While NFL training camp is beginning its final descent, UFL players are still earning opportunities with another preseason game remaining for players to prove themselves. On Sunday afternoon, Wide receiver and special teams standout Gary Jennings Jr. has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers per the team. Jennings joins WR Hakeem Butler, CB Sean Fresch, and DB Trey Dean III as members of the 2026 St. Louis Battlehawks to earn an NFL contract this signing cycle.
Jennings earned an All-UFL selection as a special teams contributor as a returner and defensive asset recording 16 special teams tackles, and 19 kickoff returns for 439 return yards. Jennings also added 3 receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown in 2026 as well.
Jennings has been in professional football since 2019, coming out of West Virginia as a 4th round pick to the Seattle Seahawks. Jennings would earn stints with the Dolphins, Ravens, Bills, Colts, Raiders, and Chiefs before joining the Battlehawks in 2023. Jennings would return to the NFL with the Carolina during the 2023 preseason, however, would sign with the Birmingham Stallions in 2024, after his release from the Panthers. Jennings returned to the Battlehawks in 2025 spending the last two seasons with the team.
Over his spring football career Jennings has totaled 31 receptions for 369 yards and 4 touchdowns, while adding 1,266 yards on 54 kickoff returns over the past three seasons, while appearing in 35 spring football games. The Battlehawks retain the rights to Jennings Jr. should he return to the UFL in the future.
