Built to Repeat, Jordan Ta'amu at the Center of DC's Success.

Jordan Ta'amu steps into 2026 as one of the top QBs in the UFL. After years of trying to get over the hump and win a championship, he finally did it last season as the defenders defeated the Michigan Panthers to capture their first championship. Now that Ta'amu has the pressure off his back, he steps into the new year with a revamped offensive line, a talented WR corps, and a run game that should be sufficient to help DC become one of the top efficient offenses in the UFL. Ta’amu has not become one of the elite running quarterbacks in the game today, but has gradually become one of the top passers in the UFL as well. Last year, he was second in the UFL in passing yards with 2,153 and passing touchdowns with 17. Not to mention, he finished the season with a 92.9 QBR. I expect to see similar numbers as we head into the new season.

Ta’amu enters his fourth season with offensive coordinator Fred Kaiss, and their chemistry throughout the years has been unmatched as they look to pick up where they left off last year. He will be reunited with some of his favorite targets in wide receivers Braylon Sanders and Ty Scott. Not to mention one of the top rushers last year, Deon Jackson. It will take some time for this offense to get adjusted as the 1st game of the season approaches. However, with the veteran leadership of Jordan Ta'amu and the ability to grab hold of this offense, we shouldn't see too much of a slowdown as the season progresses.

This week, the Defenders will travel to St. Louis to face their rivals, the St. Louis Battlehawks, under new Head Coach Ricky Proehl and a new-look secondary that remains a mystery as we head into the new season. This could potentially be another signature win for Ta'amu if they were to beat the Battlehawks. As long as the Defenders have Jordan Ta'amu under center for the regular season, we could find the DC Defenders back in the UFL championship again. It is unclear how long Jordan Ta'amu will continue to play in the UFL, but one thing is clear: the city of DC has embraced their star quarterback, and Jordan Ta'amu has embraced them back.
