Dallas Renegades Deliver Harsh News with Andrew Dowell Heading to Reserve/Injured List

The last thing the Dallas Renegades needed was bad news with injuries after staying relatively healthy, but three games in 11 days might have finally caught up with the franchise.

According to the UFL Communication Department's X page, the Renegades placed linebacker Andrew Dowell on the reserve/injured list. This means Dowell is out for a minimum of five games, so he will not be able to play again until at least the final week of the 2026 season.

Dowell played a key role in the Renegades' defense this season, as in three games, he racked up 16 tackles, ranking fifth on the team. He played in the UFL last year with the Memphis Showboats.

Dallas Renegades take a hit at linebacker with Andrew Dowell's injury

The Renegades had been starting Dowell in the middle at linebacker. This most likely means that veteran Donald Payne will move up in the starting lineup, where he had been the last three seasons with the Renegades, and run it back at the mike linebacker position.

Watch for the other inside linebacker J.T. Tyler step up as well and put more on his shoulders as he is already having a solid season for Dallas. Tyler leads the Rengades in tackles in 27 and is also in the top five of the UFL in that category as well.

There will be more interest in the defensive line as well to see how some of their key injured players are doing. Guys like Kevin Strong got knocked out of the Renegades' disappointing 28-14 loss to the Columbus Aviators in Week 4.

After struggles with stopping the run against Columbus, the Renegades are back home for the final game at Toyota Stadium this season as they will take on the Louisville Kings in Week 5 action.
