The wait is finally over. Dallas Renegades quarterback Austin Reed is heading to the NFL.
Baltimore Banner reporter Jonas Shaffer reported that the Ravens are signing Reed to a contract. The Ravens placed their third-string quarterback, Skylar Thompson, on IR
Reed had a standout first season in the UFL with the Renegades as one of the league's leading passers. He finished by completing 56.3% of his passes for 1,923 yards and 21 touchdowns to nine interceptions in 10 games.

This is a great moment for the Renegades, as they see a quarterback everyone has been calling for finally get signed by the NFL. While last season was not perfect, Reed should be able to transition well into the league.
Reed spent the last two preseasons with the Chicago Bears and performed well both years. He was not able to make the cut because the quarterback room in Chicago was deep both years.
With the Ravens, Reed has room to compete for the third-string job, as the top two on the depth chart are Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Reed will be at a disadvantage since he has not been in Baltimore through the first two and a half weeks. The good part is that He knows Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle well since the two were together in Chicago last year.
As for the Renegades, it's more of a wait-and-see what happens situation. Luke Lehnen would be the starter if Reed ends up staying in the NFL. More than likely, though, Renegades head coach Rick Neuheisel would bring in competition at quarterback for Lehnen.
Until then, Renegades fans have another game to watch for this weekend with the Ravens facing the Philadelphia Eagles in their first preseason game.
