Defenders Get Devastating Jordan Ta'amu News With Season-Ending Injury and One Question to Answer

Well, the bad news for the DC Defenders got a whole lot worse.

Defenders star quarterback Jordan Ta'amu got injured and left the team's Week 8 loss to the Louisville Kings game early. That now appears to be season-ending as the league announced that Ta'amu is out for the remainder of the year.

Ta'amu finishes the season completing 61.6% of his passes for 1,515 yards and 14 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He also rushed for 198 yards, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

What do the Defenders do at quarterback now?

This is quite the dilemma DC head coach Shannon Harris is facing, as one of spring football's best quarterbacks in the last six years is now out for the year. It's horrible for a Defenders team that is 5-3 and right in the middle of the playoff hunt, and dealing with a two-game losing streak, with the Kings handing both of those to them.

Now the real question is, what does DC do about the quarterback situation? The Defenders can either roll with Spencer Sanders, who took over for Ta'amu in the Kings Week 8 game, or go with Jason Bean, who was the Kings' starting quarterback for the first half of the year before being traded to the Defenders.

Sanders was average at best in his limited action against the Kings as he went 7-15 for 83 yards and an interception while also adding 27 rushing yards. He was able to keep them in the game and has good experience in Harris's offense, but it feels as though Bean was brought in for this specific moment.

Bean had an up-and-down experience in Louisville as he completed just 47.5% of his passes for 819 yards and four touchdowns and three interceptions. He had some great moments, including throwing for over 300 yards in one game against the Orlando Storm, but the slide just short of the end zone against the Houston Gamblers is a memory that lives in all fans' heads.

Harris will have to make a tough decision and take his time. This is a make-or-break decision that could affect the outcome not only of the Defenders' season but also of the UFL playoffs.
