With both the UFL and NFL in their offseason lulls, it's the perfect time to dive into some offseason content. As the UFL awaits the next wave of NFL signings for the 2026 player acquisition cycle, we're taking a look back at how each NFL team has utilized spring football as a developmental pipeline during the modern era of spring football since 2022. We continue the series with the Houston Texans, highlighting every spring league player the organization has signed over the past four years.
2022 Cycle:
With the reboot of the USFL, Houston would sign two players from the 2022 class. B.J. Emmons would spend several days with the team during training camp before his release, along with Long Snapper Tucker Addington (Houston Gamblers) who spent time with the team in OTAs during the 2025 season before his release.
2023 Cycle:
2023 would find more success for the Texans, with Houston signing two players from the XFL and three players from the USFL. While Victor Bolden (Arlington Renegades), and E.J. Perry (Michigan Panthers) both getting released during training camp. Davion Davis (Birmingham Stallions), and Bruce Hector (Arlington Renegades), would both find homes on the Texans practice squad, however the real “steal” was Stallions defensive lineman Khalil Davis. Davis would spend almost two seasons with the Texans appearing in 24 games while recording 41 tackles and 3.0 sacks from the 2023-24 seasons.
2024 Cycle:
After a breakout season in the UFL the Texans signed Malik Fisher (D.C. Defenders) who ultimately would be released at the end of training camp. Fisher did spend several days on the Texans practice squad but was released prior to their week one matchup.
2025 Cycle:
In 2025, the Texans signed two UFL players in Wide Receiver Cornell Powell (D.C. Defenders), and Defensive Back Damon Arnette (Houston Roughnecks). Powell would be released during training camp, however Arnette would appear in two games for the team, before his eventual release in December of 2025.
The Texans have signed eight players over the last five seasons, with Damon Arnette, and Khalil Davis both appearing in games for the team. The Texans have yet to sign any players from the UFL so far this signing cycle so far. UFL to NFL signings will continue once the teams begin training camp, later in July.
