With the NFL back in full swing during training camp several UFL players continue to earn their opportunities as teams prepare for the 2026 season. With training camp in full swing, we're taking a look back at how each NFL team has utilized spring football as a developmental pipeline during the modern era of spring football since 2022. We continue the series with the Kansas City Chiefs, highlighting every spring league player the organization has signed over the past four years.

The Chiefs like the Ravens, have only signed four players from spring football leagues since the return of the USFL in 2022. Prior to that the Chiefs signed only five players from the AAF/XFL 2.0, with none of the five really making an impact for the franchise either.

As the Chiefs continue training camp in 2026, Louisville Kings offensive lineman Kellen Diesch became the 4th spring football player the Chiefs have signed and will attempt to make a push for their practice squad late in training camp. The Chiefs have two preseason games remaining prior to the 2026 regular season.

In 2025, Geor'Quarius Spivey was an early signing by Kansas City and despite his familiarity and tenure with the team was released at the conclusion of training camp. Previously, Devin Grey (2022 Philadelphia Stars), and Juwan Green (2023 Seattle Sea Dragons), both had training camp stints with the Chiefs however were released.

Diesch has the opportunity to become the first spring football Chief to earn an NFL practice squad or active roster opportunity with the team. Diesch will have about two weeks to prove himself starting with their matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday August 22nd.
