With the NFL back in full swing during training camp several UFL players continue to earn their opportunities as teams prepare for the 2026 season. With training camp in full swing, we're taking a look back at how each NFL team has utilized spring football as a developmental pipeline during the modern era of spring football since 2022. We continue the series with the New York Giants, highlighting every spring league player the organization has signed over the past four years.
2022 Cycle:
The Giants signed two players from the USFL with offensive lineman Garrett McGhin (New Jersey Generals) initially earning a practice squad opportunity, only to be waived prior to week one. The Giants would claim WR Bailey Gaither (Pittsburgh Maulers) via waivers, however he’d fail his physical, leading to his release.
2023 Cycle:
The 2023 signing class would see the Giants take a stab at three spring football players all from the XFL. Defensive Linemen Kobe Smith (San Antonio Brahmas), Darren Evans (Arlington Renegades), and Kevin Atkins (St. Louis Battlehawks) all earned opportunities for training camp however all were released at the conclusion of training camp.
2024 Cycle:
The 2024 class saw the Giants sign running back Jacob Saylors who the team would release during the midway point of training camp. Saylors would sign with the Cleveland Browns eventually returning to the UFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks. Saylors is currently rostered with the Detroit Lions going into his second season.
2025 Cycle:
The Giants did not sign any players from the 2025 UFL signing cycle.
The Giants have signed seven players from spring football circuit since 2022, and have never rostered one during that span. Currently D.J. James from the Orlando Storm remains on injured reserve with the team after signing as a member of the 2026 signing class. The Giants have recently completed their first preseason game, and are set to take on the Dolphins Saturday August 22nd.
