ARLINGTON, TX (August 18, 2026) – Louisville Kings tight end Tre’ McKitty has signed with the Washington Commanders, and DC Defenders offensive lineman Trey Wedig has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, the teams announced today. The two signings bring the number of players from the 2026 UFL season under NFL contract to 59. The signings also increase the overall number of UFL alumni in NFL training camps to 94.

TE Tre’ McKitty | Louisville Kings → Washington Commanders
McKitty (6-4, 243, Georgia) appeared in six games this season with the United Bowl champion Louisville Kings, catching five passes for 98 yards, including a 44-yard reception. He also saw action in both postseason contests, recording two receptions for 32 yards.

McKitty was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft and caught 16 passes for 117 yards during his two seasons with the team. Following his release in 2023, he spent time on the practice squads of the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans before being selected by the Louisville Kings in the 2026 UFL Draft.

McKitty began his collegiate career at Florida State, where he played from 2017-19, before transferring to Georgia for his final two seasons. During his time with the Bulldogs, he became a starter and recorded six receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown in 2020. He finished his college career with 56 receptions for 628 yards and three touchdowns.

Trey Wedig | DC Defenders → Indianapolis Colts

Wedig (6-6, 313, Indiana) primarily served as a reserve along the Defenders offensive line in 2026, seeing action in five regular-season games and making his first start in Week 10 against the Orlando Storm. He went on to also start both postseason contests, including the 2026 United Bowl for the Defenders. During those two contests, Wedig was part of an offense front that held opposing defenses to only two total sacks, while the Defenders rushed for 398 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Following the 2025 NFL Draft, Wedig signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent and attended training camp with the team before being waived during roster cuts. Wedig also spent time on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad before joining the DC Defenders in February 2026.

He began his college career at Wisconsin, redshirting in 2020 before appearing in 12 games in 2021. Wedig played in 10 games with eight starts in 2022 and appeared in all 12 games in 2023. After transferring to Indiana, he started all 13 games at right tackle during the 2024 season, helping the Hoosiers to one of the program’s strongest seasons in recent years. He declared for the 2025 NFL Draft following the season.
