The Orlando Storm will now be without their third running back this off-season, with reports of Running Back Deuce Vaughn joining the Texans. Per Aaron Wilson, the Texans will be signing Vaughn, after working out Blake Watson and Jordan Mims. The Texans are currently dealing with injuries to a number of their running backs including Jawhar Jordan (hip), British Brooks (hand) and Noah Whittington (ankle), forcing them to give Vaughn a call for the final part of the preseason, and possible practice squad depth.
Vaughn came out of Kansas State as sixth round pick in 2023, being selected by the Dallas Cowboys where his father (a scout with Dallas) was the member of the staff to notify him of his selection. Vaughn would serve as a reserve running back with the Cowboys for two seasons, until his release in 2025.
Upon his release from Dallas, Vaughn signed with the Broncos on their practice squad before his release in May of 2026. The Storm would sign Vaughn on May 30th, before the final part of the 2026 UFL season, however, would not make an appearance for Orlando.
Vaughn is now the sixth member of the Storm to earn a contract with an NFL team this offseason, and the 59th member of the UFL to earn a contract in total. The Texans are set to take on the Carolina Panthers on Friday August 28th, for their final preseason game of 2026.
