Renegades Linebacker Andrew Dowell set to join Washington Commanders Scouting Department

One the first shakeups of the 2026-27 UFL offseason has taken place with Renegades Linebacker Andrew Dowell joining the Washington Commanders. Dowell who was placed on injured reserve this season, will be joining the Commanders in their player personnel department, after interning with the team last year with the Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship program.

Dowell played five years in the NFL before joining the Memphis Showboats in 2025. He would join the Dallas Renegades appearing in three games this season before landing on injured reserve. In addition to his spring football experience, Dowell appeared in 34 games in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, while also spending time with the Dallas Cowboys as a UDFA in 2019.

Dowell looks to be the first shakeup for the Dallas Renegades as the team heads into the offseason. The Renegades are coming off a 4-6 season that saw the team lose 6 of its final 7 games of the 2026 season, under new Head Coach Rick Neuheisel.
