If an observer of the San Antonio Brahmas were to say that the Brahmas are facing some challenges in Week 4 of the UFL season, that would be a massive understatement. Over the last two weeks, the Brahmas have lost their offensive coordinator, AJ Smith, and their head coach, Wade Phillips, and Payton Pardee is left working to hold the herd together. During the week, the Brahmas have also made a few personnel changes to improve the performance of their severely performing defense with an emphasis on finding an effective edge rusher.

In addition to these challenges from earlier this week, Friday night, the final UFL Injury Report reported that the Brahmas would head into their matchup against the 3-0 DC Defenders without placekicker Donald “Deestroying” De La Haye due to a groin injury that will hold the kicker out for several weeks. That announcement became a major crisis because the Brahmas only had one placekicker on their roster, much less their active roster.

Several hours later, UFL Insider James Larsen announced that the Brahma signed veteran kicker Tristan Vizcaino to fill in for De La Haye, and they also signed Edge rusher David Anenih.

Kicker Tristan Vizcaino comes to the Brahmas roster after spending the last several years with multiple NFL teams. Vizcaino’s nomadic existence as a professional kicker should give him a chance to kick for the Brahmas with extremely short notice. For the last several seasons, Vizcaino has spent time with the Carolina Panthers (2019), the San Francisco 49ers (2020), the Los Angeles Chargers (2021), the Arizona Cardinals (2022), the New England Patriots (2022), and the Dallas Cowboys.

While Vizcaino has spent time with several NFL teams, the actual number of his attempted kicks is few and far between, but he has been successful with the opportunities that Vizcaino has received. During his time in the NFL, Vizcaino played in 10 games and successfully made 11 out of 12 field goal attempts and 15 out of 20 extra point attempts. The 6’2″, 205-pound Vizcaino played college football at the University of Washington from 2014 until 2017 and in 57 games. While kicking for the Huskies, Vizcaino made 12 out of 20 field goal attempts and 44 out of 49 extra-point attempts.

Adding Another Edge Rusher

In addition to adding Vizcaino to fill in for “Deestroying” as the Brahmas place kicker, San Antonio is also continuing to add players to upgrade their group of Edge Rushers. During the first three games of the 2025 season, the Brahmas edge players have failed to live up to the expectations that the Brahmas defense established in 2024 when they led the UFL in quarterback sacks. The Brahmas have only recorded two quarterback sacks this season in the first three games.

Earlier this week, the Brahmas added edge rusher Nelson Ceaser, who will be on the active roster this week against the DC Defenders. Despite adding Ceaser, the Brahmas still need more and higher-quality edge rushers. The next player to sign with the Brahmas to fill one of those edge roles is David Anenih.

Similar to Vizcaino, Anenih has spent time with several NFL teams over the last several NFL seasons. Anenih spent time with the Tennessee Titans (2022), the Atlanta Falcons (2022), the Arizona Cardinals (2023), the Miami Dolphins (2024), and the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6’2″, 245-pound Anenih played college football at the University of Houston from 2017 until 2021, playing in 54 games and recording 57 solo tackles, 42 assists, and 20 quarterback sacks.

Anenih will be on the Brahmas inactive list for this week’s game against the DC Defenders.
