With the UFL continuing to move into their 3rd offseason, the league continues to see changeover, and transition. With the league continuing to move in a more youthful direction, one player who made a huge impact on spring football over the past several years has opted to officially retire after being "forced out" of the league for the 2026 season.
After beginning his professional career in 2017, Chris Odom has officially announced via his social media he's done with football. Odom's career has spanned over 8 years (10 plus seasons), 9 teams, across 5 leagues, and at one point held spring football's career sack record with 25, which was recently broken by Pita Taumoepenu, while his 12.5 sack season in 2022 remains the modern spring football record dating back to 2019.
Coming into 2026, Odom was among several "established" UFL players with "tenure" such as Frank Ginda, DeMarquis Gates, and Ricky Person. Odom's "alleged" black balling, would end up hurting the Renegades in 2026 who despite a 3-0 start to the season would finish 4-6 missing the playoffs for the 3rd straight season, since their 2023 XFL championship.
Odom finishes a career that spanned over the NFL, CFL, AAF, USFL, and UFL. He totaled 132 tackles, and 27.0 sacks through 51 games across all leagues. Odom also earned numerous personal awards such as All-USFL (2022), All-UFL (2024), Defensive Player of the Year award (2022), and multiple player of the week honors.
